Adam Mansbach presents I Had a Brother Once: A Poem, A Memoir
In conversation with Saeed Jones

Adam Mansbach, bestselling author of Go the Fuck to Sleep and A Field Guide to Jewish People among other works, joins Greenlight (virtually!) to share his powerful new book, I Had a Brother Once. Adam was in the middle of his own busy life, and approaching a career high, when the words from his father david has taken his own life opened a chasm beneath his feet. In the shadow of David's inexplicable death, Adam is forced to reckon with the ghost of a brother he thought he knew, confront his unsettled family history and distant relationship with tradition and faith, and reconcile with the desperate need to understand an event that always escapes his grasp. This memoir is an expansive and deeply thoughtful poetic reflection on loss and a raw, darkly funny, human story of trying to create a ritual—of remembrance, mourning, forgiveness, and acceptance—where once there was a life. Saeed Jones, award-winning author of the memoir How We Fight for Our Lives and the poetry collection Prelude to Bruise, joins Mansbach for a genre-defying conversation on loss and unconditional love.
